Fourteen things to get caught up In A Benton World:
1. We had a baby! Our baby boy was born Thursday, May 17th at 1:53pm, weighing in at 8lbs, 13oz and 21 inches long.
3. We were fully prepared for the lack of sleep that would come with a baby, but no one told us to watch out for the crazy-ness that breastfeeding and a lack of schedule can bring. I think I'll write my own "what to expect" book some day. For Tim and I, it's not really about the what to expect when you're expecting, it's more like what to expect the first 2 weeks after baby is home. Oy Vey!
6. The things that you can do one-handed are pretty amazing! I achieved greatness putting on deodorant one-handed this morning! I got skills!
7. The doctor is guessing that Cameron will be somewhere between 6' and 6'2", but they'll know more when he's around 2 years old. How is this possible? Is there scientific research? My sisters and I were all around 21 inches when we were born too and there's one of us that doesn't quite match up if you look at all of us together. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how Cameron continues to grow.
8. 80% of the day I feel like a cow, 18% of the day I feel like a mattress. The other 2% is trying to maintain some sense of normalcy all while reminding myself that my glass is half full. Did all of that add up to 100%? I can't be sure.
9. Emails, text messages and phone calls. YIKES! I find myself having very little time to do any of it! Even as I type this I am thinking about the 5-plus phone calls that I need to make. People are going to start to think I've gone into hibernation. I definitely need to get better about making time for some real world conversation. There's only so much cow that this Mama can take.
10. Memorial Day came and went and we waved to our lake life from the bridge here in Austin and again from the dock at the lake house. We can't wait until we have a better grasp on this new life and can manage lake-life and Cameron-life together!

2. We named him Cameron Robert Benton. Cameron came to Tim when he took a shower Thursday night and Robert is after Tim's Grandfather. We were literally on our way to the hospital to be induced on Thursday and were narrowing our names down to 3. Cameron wasn't one of them.
4. Tim's best lines since Cameron was born:
* Guess what I thought of? We don't have to pay for a wedding!
* I'm guessing this mirror isn't for me, but I think I'll put it right here so that when I wake up I can look at myself. (in the hospital)
* "Cameron if this is your way of telling us that you want to be an only child, you're doing a darn good job of it!"
5. Cameron is 2 weeks old and we took our first walk around the neighborhood. It must be because I have a jeep and he was used to a bumpy ride in the womb, because he fell asleep pretty fast on that uneven asphalt.

12. Yes, I have been pooped and pee'd on! Right of passage and Benton comic relief... check!
13. I've been writing this one blog post for 3 days. That's not a good average.
14. Tim and I make a very good team. Everyone tells us that this all gets easier and that we'll forget about all of the "not-so-fun-stuff" quickly, but until then...I couldn't ask for a better person to go through this with. We have the most fun turning Cameron's expressions into songs and funny movie quotes. Hey, when you're this overwhelmed, you do whatever keeps the laughter.
