We didn't do the polar bear plunge this weekend like we planned. I know, I know...you're probably all terribly disappointed in us. I'm so sorry, I could give some really great excuses, but the truth is, we just plain ol' chickened out, but hey - we did it gracefully. To our credit, it got down-right cold (for Austin, Texas) standards over the weekend. We're definitely more of a warm sunshine and outdoors kind of family, so when it's cold there's not a lot of adventuring going on. We're the best at talking each other out of things when it's cold or rainy outside. In college, Tim used to tell me he didn't have to go to class if it was raining. Psh! Of course I knew better and went though.
The house is coming along and I can't wait to share pictures and more details, but I'm sort of waiting for our big delivery of NEW furniture to arrive. Just two more weeks and we'll have that wonderful new couch, media cabinet and coffee table! We can't wait! Right now some of the rooms look pretty boring and somewhat bachelor-pad-ish with nothing going on in them. I have always enjoyed going to Pottery Barn and other home furnishing stores, but I've taken on a whole new love for home decor recently; if only I had a never-ending spending limit!
There has been lots of unpacking and organizing going on, but even more tilts of the head as we try to decide the best fit for what we want to do in a specific area of the house. We did purchase the coolest rocking chair yesterday that I'm really excited about. Check it out:
Isn't it awesome!? So much character! I can hardly wait to have a fire and sit in my rocking chair while I read and something yummy cooks in the oven!
You know you're getting older when the highlight of your weekend was finding the two best cabinets in the kitchen: 1. One with a sliding drawer that fits my big stand-up kitchen mixer perfectly! 2. Another that hides two (yes I said two) garbage cans! One for recycling and one is for regular trash...how convenient! Now we have no excuse not to recycle!
Alright, I have a feeling that trick-or-treaters will be on my doorstep any minute now. I plan on making friends with as many of my neighbors as possible! They've all been so friendly and welcoming so far, and tonight is my chance to sit outside and get to know them better. Bring it on neighbors, we even have the good candy!
The Bentons are home!
