An East Coast Adventure

We recently went on quite the road trip through the East Coast.  It wasn't a relaxing, sun-filled, beach front vacation, but it was memorable and full of good moments. Bottom line, it was an adults only trip that I will never forget it.

First, there was "My Best Friends Big, Italian, Wedding":

Highlights:
Seeing Cheryl the happiest I've ever seen her.
Crying with the lip quiver as my beautiful friend walked down the isle glowing.
A champagne march, chicken-a-la-vodka (don't ask - just try it), and giving a toast to a room full of people that I didn't really know.
Definitely being out of our "Texas" element... let's just say Austin has it's own sense of casual.
Dancing the night away with a club beat behind every song.
Dancing with the bride to Piano Man, a song that forever reminds me of her.
Staying up until 4AM partying with a slew of New Yorkers.
Waking up with a New York accent.
Hearing an Italian Father (with a heavy Italian accent) call from across the room, "Hey Texas Guy" and smile at Tim over and over again!
Kicking Tim's a** at checkers.

After Cheryl's big celebrations, we did a little toasting of our own and took a road trip to Boston to visit Fenway Park for a Boston Red Sox game! Tim has a list of baseball fields that he wants to visit one day and Fenway is at the top. Since we were already going to be on that side of America (and he smiled his way through the traveling and wearing a suit) I thought this would be a prime opportunity.  Three hours and a small nap later, we were in Boston.  On the drive we were both questioning if this extra stop on our adventure was worth it. And then the sky opened up and the sun shined on Fenway.

Highlights:
Everything baseball. Everything Fenway.
The sound, the smell, the hot dog & beer combo.
The Boston Banter... a whole new accent to learn.
Making a new memory just the two of us and then discussing the next bucket list item that we'll take with our boys...Wrigley (when they're older of course).

We missed our boys and were so ready to get home.  By Saturday I was getting a bit sappy.
We really didn't get to spend very much time in Boston at all, but we checked off an item on our bucket list and really enjoyed our trip as a whole. It was a much needed getaway.
A big shout out to all those East Coast Kids -- things might be a little different there, but everyone was super nice and we had a ball partying with new people.
Congratulations to my favorite Italian married couple.  To say that we enjoyed spending such a fantastic day with you is an understatement.  We wish you a lifetime of laughter and love!

(Thank you to the very special people that helped our boys while we were away. They loved their adventures too!)
