We've been toasting the small things, the grand things and everything in between. And when I say toasting - yes, that includes celebrating with dirty dishes, normal routines and even 10 minutes to write this. Er, write this 17 times. I've literally opened and closed this post too many times to count and now it's a week later.
I'm grateful for each and every day, I take time out for dance parties all year long, so one that includes the birthday song just becomes an extra topping, or a blue cupcake for Cameron.
Today, I'm diving in.
35. I love the color yellow. Yellow makes everything brighter. better.
34. I'm a salad professional. It's by far what I eat the most, so I know when it's a good one.
33. Whole Foods carries a Fisherman Cioppino in their fresh soup section and it warms me to the core. It's definitely not nearly as good as my Grandmother's, but sometimes it's just what I need.
32. I think I'm a very good judge of character. I have a pretty good instinct of people generally.
31. At 35, I'm really starting to notice my own physical attributes that have aged. More so then ever before.
30. I've found a pretty good rhythm in my running lately. Even if Tim thinks that I run like Rachel from Friends, I'm proud of myself.
29. I wish I had a better voice because I love to sing along with music.
28. I think of myself as pretty tough. I'm not a scaredy cat and I feel like I can hold my own for the most part.
27. I don't waste time with fear, sure bad things suck - but "ain't nobody got time" for dwelling on that around here.
26. I've been obsessed with pictures and scrapbooks/memory books since forever, like 8? I'm pretty sure I even re-did my baby album when I was like 13 or 14. Sorry Mom.
25. I've taught Cameron to ask for a hug when he needs one. I hope he holds on to that piece of advice always.
24. Time is important. Time is swift. Every second counts... even when it comes to sleep.
23. It's good to feel your sense of accomplishments and to be proud, but I have a hard time with people that feel the need to boast or give themselves a title in order to feel that sense of pride. There's no title in the world that's ever going to prove your ultimate worth. I don't care of you are an administrative assistant or a ceo - proof is in the pudding, 100% in who you are.
22. It hasn't happened often enough lately but, on the off chance that we have a nice warm day during the weekend, I find myself rushing to get the boys to sleep for their nap hoping that I can have at least an hour outside breathing in the sun.
21. Even though I may not have agreed with this statement when I was growing up: I'm really proud of my upbringing. I'm very thankful that I haven't had a cookie-cutter life and that I've experienced all kinds of people and so many different things. I'm grateful that my family taught me lessons that count, lessons of independence and thinking outside the box, lessons that these days we get judged for.
20. I can't twerk, but I have tried.
19. When Cameron brushes his teeth, I floss mine. Seriously, I utilize every minute I can, multi-tasking has a whole new meaning.
18. I have hideous feet. And when I look down on them they look ginormous.
17. I'm a sucker for a good project, especially when it gets us organized or makes us feel updated.
16. The way that Tim can get sucked into craigslist like it's his stress reliever is how I feel about writing this blog or brainstorming upcoming plans/ideas. We all have our releases.
15. I know that I need to start discussing "stranger/danger" with Cameron, but I'm torn because I don't want him to not talk to people. I want him to be friendly and kind with people in general and I need to figure out the right way to explain the difference.
14. Baseball season is here, y'all!
13. One of my closest friends from college is getting married this summer and I'm already putting together ideas for a toast. I'm insane. and excited.
12. I suck at cooking.
11. I'm better at eating.
10. I believe in my faith wholeheartedly.
9. I still watch MTV, I'll never give it up. There are three channels that keep me young (aside from having hip/younger siblings) - MTV, CW and Disney. I found myself a little taken aback at some of the language in a prime time 7 o'clock show the other day and then laughed at how old that made me feel just because I had noticed it and commented on it.
8. I have always been and forever will be a clutz. I thought it was bad when I was younger because I wasn't coordinated, but I'm finding it worsens with age too. Sheesh.
7. I dig finding a good balance. in all things.
6. I love that we all come from a story.
5. I remember hearing someone tell me that when their kids misbehaved or were fighting they made them run a lap. I think I'm going to use that for everyone in our family, Tim too.
4. Do you ever just stop to watch? The best piece of advice that I received on our wedding day was to go to a quiet corner and watch it all happening around me. At that moment, I just thought they meant to do that at the wedding/reception itself, but I've learned that the advice was to do it always. It's a game changer.
3. starburst jellybeans are addicting.
2. 35, welcome to my world: Please be kind and enjoy the entertainment. Hold on to your hats, it moves pretty fast around here.
1. Where do we grow from here.
