Confessions from a Tired Mama, Episode 1

Remember: This is a judge free zone

* I confess: that yes I did put my hair product on my face by accident the other morning. Thankfully I realized it wasn't moisturizer pretty quickly.

*  I confess: that after I drop the boys off at school you can find me still listening (and singing along sometimes) to the children's music cd that we have in my car.

*  I confess:  that granola bars have become a very large part of our grocery bill and our consumption. Have a sweet tooth? Grab a granola bar. Need a snack? Grab a granola bar. Oh, there wasn't time to make a real dinner. Grab a granola bar.

*  I confess:  that I pump in my closet. It's where I actually find at least 10 minutes (normally by myself) of quiet time. well except for the woosh and hummm of the pump itself.

*  I confess:  that if I sit for too long, I will fall asleep.

*  I confess:  that there may have been a moment where my eyes blinked a little too long while I was at my first full week back to work. (shh -- sorry Mom! I promise, it wasn't that long!)

*  I confess:  that I've turned into a dud of a friend. I told myself I wouldn't let that happen with kids, but it's just something else that's fallen down the priority list. If only there was more time in the day.

*  I confess:  that I'm far from anti-technology, but sometimes I really wish that I could institute a no-phone rule inside of our home.  When I think about how fast "smart phones" have changed our world, it makes me feel a bit anxious to think about where we'll be in 5 years.  Unplugged has such a new meaning.

*  I confess: that as much as I missed wine, I'm having a hard time finding my love for it again. Margaritas though? They still love me as much as I love them.

*  I confess: that I have a brown thumb. The boys got me an orchid for Mother's Day and it's slowly - and sadly - on its way out.

*  I confess: that it's hard. I'm tired. If I thought about it for a mili-second I could probably cry at any given moment for just about any reason under the sun. BUT -- and that's a big but...I'm happy.

Hidden Videos

Apparently I haven't shared our "home movies" in a while.
Some of these are rather old and in no specific order, but it was time to get them off of my phone and get them somewhere.

(No judgement please.  Disclaimer:  No one was harmed or hurt in the process of filming these videos.  Unless you count Cameron's pride when he turns 13 and realizes that people have seen these moments.)

Hope they make you smile, I know Cameron loves to watch them!

Dear Nugget

Dear Nugget,
You are two months old today!

I'm not sure if I should thank you or apologize first. You've got second-child-syndrome in a bad way. There's moments that we are all out pouring love for you and then there's just the opposite when I get this guilty feeling because you've been quietly put in your swing so that we make sure we give your big brother the attention he needs. Lucky for us, you're a really good baby! If nothing else, we are teaching you how to go with the flow.

This month you start "school"! Cameron was very confused by this, but has been super excited that he gets to come visit you. I love that all of the teacher's know you and check on you multiple times a day.

You love a good mirror and if you get to check yourself out, well that's even better!  You are cooing at toys that dangle over you, and you like to snuggle with the caterpillar at school. It's taken you a few times to get used to the buggies at school, but you love the boat! It's a good thing too, we would have been concerned if you were really ours if you didn't.

You don't sleep through the night yet, but we're heading in the right direction.

You continue to spit up, even after I took you to a voodoo lady. It's ok, I think we're on the right track with this too, simply because you're outgrowing it and you're body is figuring it out.

You are long and lean! 11.9 pounds and 24" of sweetness!

Your big brother loves you! He kisses you, helps me hold your bottle when you're eating, and loves helping any way he can.  His favorite thing to do though is when he's trying to give you a kiss and I say, "Get him Payton!!". I move your hand and act like you're going to get him. Cameron laughs hysterically, and then you usually coo at him. I know you're watching his every move already, if only I knew what you would say if you could.
I'm not sure what he's trying to tell me in this picture, but the ideas for captions on this one make me laugh.
DOWN WITH WORK MAMA -- LAKE LIFE IS WHERE IT'S AT!
I am so thankful for you Little Man. You are a ball of love & snuggles and (for the moment) very patient with everything around you. Let's hope this next month gives us some dryer clothes, rested eyes, good stories and lots & lots of love!

Love you to the moon & back,
Mama

PS -- Your Dad & Grandma are both very happy to note that you still have those baby blue eyes. We'll see...
