We're so blessed!

Today I begin my trek back to work full time.  I'm feeling a little sappy about the whole thing. I use that word instead of bittersweet because there's nothing bitter about our situation - we are beyond blessed!
Little B has a new friend that is hanging out with him during the day while I'm at work and she is fabulous! Tim and I discussed our options and prayed a lot. We thought long and hard about what we wanted for Little B and we're thrilled at the arrangement that we have been so lucky to find with Miss T!

Everyone has their opinions when it comes to child care, and boy have we heard a lot of them.  We've heard the horror stories and bad experiences and I have my own tales from when I worked in both a preschool and as a nanny.

Although I'll miss my days with Little B like crazy, I know that he is in wonderful, caring hands. Miss T likes to play and be silly with Little B and he smiles so at her funny voices.  Some days they even send me pictures to say hi!  Miss T has a thing for pirates so we've been teasing about some of Little B's new pirate faces. My favorite of course is when he holds his one eyebrow up. This trait runs in my family and Tim hates that Little B has mastered it too.

I'll keep you posted on our progress and let you know how often Tim and I fight over Little B when we get home in the evenings or how many times I sneak home at lunch just for some Little B hugs.
Until then, I'll be redecorating my desk at work with some pictures of my Little B!

Sunday Funday!

We love happy babies!

When I was little I loved to stick my tongue out repeatedly and it became a game. It's hard to describe this game in words but if you stick your tongue in and out and make sound as you do it there becomes a sort of funny rhythm.  I've been trying to teach Little B this trick too. He hasn't quite gotten the sound part of it, but he sure does think it can be fun to stick your tongue out!  This video isn't the best since it's from my phone -- and warning it is super long -- but when you're waiting for something funny to happen you just press record and wait for that super big grin! :)

Sleepin' 9 to 5!

Cameron must have had a busy Monday because he slept from 9pm to 5am!!
Tim and I were so excited! I woke up about 1:30am (close to his normal mid-evening snack) wondering about him. I checked on him (via the monitor) and then went back to bed.  Next thing I knew he was screaming, I was jumping out of bed and Tim was asking if everything was ok. When I asked Tim what time it was, he said, "almost 5". I couldn't believe it! As I walked downstairs to go get Cameron and make his bottle, I sang "sleepin' 9 to 5" (instead of the old song: "working 9 to 5").

It was just a one night blessing, but it proves to Tim and I that he can sleep through the night and that we are heading in the right direction.  There are sleep-filled nights in our future people!

Two Months!

Dear Little B,
You are 2 months old. TWO MONTHS!
We're cruisin' right along and loving every minute of you. Yes that's right I said every minute...even the ones that are a bit - we'll say - "challenging". It's getting easier to know what's wrong, and like me, you're pretty good at communicating your emotions.
You smile. You laugh. There's a lot of "swimming" with your arms and legs these days. It's all pretty exciting and fun to watch! Something funny and new sparks daily and it's extraordinary to witness.
You're starting to stay awake more when we go out on walks or drives. Checking out your surroundings and listening to the sounds outside of your home. It was fun to talk about the garbage truck that passed by us or the airplane that you heard overhead.
You love the lake and going for rides in the boat. Being outside makes your day! I sometimes watch as you just sit and take it all in and wonder what you're thinking as you do.
Your Dads loves to watch golf and baseball with you or have you help him grill outside. I could lay with you on the floor and laugh with you for hours. By far though my favorite piece of you are those facial expressions.  ..especially when you're in the bath!  You are growing like a weed and it makes me smile as I play our family motto in my head, "where do we grow from here". That's all you're doing these days kiddo; it's your job!
We can't wait to see just how far you grow from here! It's one wild adventure and we're ready to only fall more and more in love with you as we all ride it together!

I Love You to the moon & back,
Mom

Post Baby Work Out

I went to my first work out since having Cameron last night. Good Grief! What has happened to my body? I've been on walks and done some small things here around the house in the last two months, but I haven't done any intense cardio since I was probably 3 months preggers. Let's just say it was very obvious!

I'm pretty sore today, but feeling good that I got out there and did something.  Boy, oh boy though, let me tell ya there's a lot of jiggly in these bits of mine. As I was running around doing the different work outs I couldn't get over how different my body feels and how different it carries.

I know there's going to be a bit of juggling to get used to with Cameron so that Tim and I are both able to work out during the week, but it's nice to give Tim and Cameron they're own time together too.  They need that and so do I.  Sometimes I get a little irked when people say things like "________ (insert Dad's name here) is babysitting tonight".  When it's your children it's not babysitting.  Seriously, if Tim is at happy hour he wouldn't say that "Nicole is babysitting", he'd just say I was home with Cameron. Anyway, I'm glad he's up for hanging and getting some Quality Time with Cameron! Let's put it this way, if it helps my sanity...it helps him too!

Here's to my first post baby work out.
Really though, here's to eventually saying so long to those jiggly bits.

Happy Baby!

I took this almost a month ago with my phone, but in our house a clean baby is a happy baby!

First Family 4th!

Happy Independence Day!  The family that parades together stays together, or is it plays together...oh you get the drift.
This was the first year we didn't spend 4th of July at the lake and honestly, we weren't really sure what to do with ourselves. Having a holiday smack-dab in the middle of the week threw us all for a loop!  Low and behold the neighborhood PARADE! I got so excited about the possibilities of the parade that I was ready to go out and buy a wagon and get my decorating on.  I held back though and instead we just showed up to see what it was all about first. We definitely enjoyed the community feel and spending the day together as a family. Happy First 4th Cameron!

Hope you all thanked your lucky stars and stripes for our freedoms this week!  We sure did!
